Wuethrich Resigns as Greenwood Girls Basketball Coach
Trevor Wuethrich has announced his resignation as the girls varsity basketball coach at Greenwood high school. Wuethrich took the varsity post in 2019. During his six-year head coaching career, he amassed a 55-82 record that saw a high-water mark in 2024 finishing second place in the Cloverbelt East conference with an 18-8 overall record.
“I was coaching junior high boys previously and then I had two girls playing at the junior high level, so I followed them to the girls team”, said Wuethrich. “My oldest, Tiara, graduated in 2018 so I didn’t get a chance to be part of her team”.
Wuethrich’s daughter Celine was a sophomore in 2019, joined by freshman Avery in 2020. “Coaching my daughter Celine all four years and then Avery behind her all four years was fun. It was a real joy to be with them entire varsity careers.”
Greenwood won five playoff games during Wuethrich’s tenure, and it was the 2023 home playoff win over Columbus Catholic that stands out. “We had a regional semi-final playoff game at home against Coumbus. They had to put chairs on the stage and it was standing room only in a sold-out gym. That really brough me back to the late 80’s of playing in packed gyms.”
Wuethrich is happy that he was able to help rejuvenate girls basketball in Greenwood. “The youth program blueprint has now been established and followed. Elementary girls are playing now and has Greenwood basketball on the upswing.”
The 2025/2026 girls basketball season features a new co-op with Granton high school. Interested coaching candidates can contact Greenwood athletic director Jenni Mayenschein at: jemayenschein@greenwood.k12.wi.us.
